Creative Roots

The Creative Roots youth project is working with young people, aged between 13 and 19 years old, in the Hulme area. We provide a safe environment where the young people can express themselves, access the support they need and feel empowered to become active members of their communities. The project consists of series of workshops using art as a medium of expression. We can also facilitate referrals to external organizations for additional support and advice.

The Project will includes a range of creative workshops leading to a final show at the end of the first-year program. It provides opportunities to meet and collaborate with artists from different parts of the world with an aim that some participants will become leaders of this program themselves in the future years and inspire their friends and community.

The project will provide participants with opportunities in the following activities:

  • performing arts and drama

  • Dance, including break dancing

  • Music

  • Visual arts and crafts

  • Storytelling

  • Scripting

  • Film making

  • Pre- and post-production
